AFGHANISTAN: Christian Convert in Hiding After Husband's Murder

Afghan women, especially those who follow Christ, face great danger if they offend relatives.
Afghan women, especially those who follow Christ, face great danger if they offend relatives.

Asmaan is in hiding with her children after her husband was murdered. She and her family had fled Afghanistan when the Taliban took over the country. While displaced in another country, they met some Christians and became followers of Christ. But when Asmaan’s brother-in-law learned his brother had rejected Islam, he poisoned him, leaving Asmaan a widow with several young children to raise. Without her husband, Asmaan lost the ability to pay her rent and was evicted from her home. Her brother-in-law does not know that Asmaan also become a follower of Jesus. Fearing what he might do if he discovered her new faith, she has gone into hiding along with her children. “Her faith is strong, but she needs God’s direction,” a Front-Line Worker said.

  • Pray for Asmaan and her children to remain safe, while still being bold enough to tell people about Christ.

  • Pray for Asmaan's brother-in-law to realise his need for a Saviour.

  • Pray for other Believers in Bangladesh who are facing persecution from their families.
