AFGHANISTAN: Mass Deportations from Iran Endanger Christians

ree

Forced deportations are putting Afghan Christians in a place of deep danger and uncertainty. Since the start of 2025, more than 1.4 million Afghans have been sent back from Iran to Afghanistan. Shockingly, nearly half a million of these deportations have taken place since the war between Israel and Iran broke out in June. Among them are Christian men and women who had already fled their home villages to escape persecution. Now, they face the painful reality of being forced back into a land where their faith could cost them everything.

With no family networks to turn to, many of these believers will try to blend into Afghanistan’s larger cities, desperately seeking safety. But without support, their daily survival is fragile. They urgently need shelter, provision, and encouragement.

A Front-Line Worker is asking us to lift up these Afghan Christians in prayer:

  • Pray that they will find safe housing and practical help as they try to start over.

  • Pray for courage as they live out their faith in Afghanistan—ranked the 10th most dangerous country in the world for Christians, a place with no church buildings and no open access to Christian resources.

  • Pray that in the midst of fear and uncertainty, their lives would shine with the light of Christ.
