INDIA: Christians in Hiding

Four Christians, including a former extremist, are in hiding after being harassed by a Hindu extremist group.

As a young man, Mukesh joined a Hindu extremist group but became interested in dating a Christian woman who shared the Gospel with him. After he placed his trust in Christ, they married and began a church that grew to more than 60 Christians.

In 2025, Mukesh, his wife and two associates were returning home from a ministry trip when three vehicles followed them. The men in the vehicles were armed with bamboo sticks and forced the four to stop, accusing Mukesh of converting others to Christianity and harassing Mukesh’s wife.

A local leader of the extremist group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) arrived with the police, telling fabricated stories that the Christians had come to his home and tried to convert him.

These four Christians are now in hiding because they fear that, if arrested, they would be trapped without help.

• Pray for Mukesh and the Believers with him as they continue in hiding from their persecutors. Ask the Lord to continue meeting their needs and provide opportunities for Christian fellowship.

• Ask the Lord to reveal Himself to those who persecute Christians. Pray that hearts would be softened to the Gospel and many would come to salvation in Christ.

• Pray the Lord would move the authorities in India to seek truth and justice for the Believers. Pray they would be exonerated of the false accusations against them and be freed from hiding.
