On 13 February 2023, village authorities gathered a group of 21 Christians from a minority tribal group in Laos, detaining them at the district meeting hall. The head of the village called them traitors for believing in a religion that does not belong to their ancestors and demanded they renounce their faith in Christ. Authorities threatened to either send them to prison or hold them indefinitely at the meeting hall if they will not deny Christ. After being held for two days, 15 renounced their faith and were permitted to go home. The remaining six are holding firm. A Front-line Worker serving this church has been denied visitation, and food brought for these brothers was confiscated by the police. Front-line Workers ask for prayer for the six remaining Believers to be strong and that the 15 who renounced will return to Christ.
