MOZAMBIQUE: Young Christians Aided in Islamist Territory

Several young Christians have received support after being rejected for their faith. In northern Mozambique, which is majority-Muslim and has been the epicentre of an Islamist insurgency since 2017, young people who place their faith in Christ risk rejection from their families and threats from Islamist insurgents.
Delfina, 17, was abandoned by her family because of her Christian faith. Vasco Antonio, 26, fled his village amid lethal Islamist attacks that resulted in his grandmother’s death. Ronilda, 25, lost support from her Muslim family when she would not renounce Christ.
These young people have been assisted in completing their education, getting stable housing and serving in their local churches. In conversations with Front-Line Workers, they said God’s presence has sustained them through their suffering. Pray that young Christians in Mozambique continue to experience God’s presence as they stand firm in faith.
